I would like to thank the Lord for blessing me in the study of His Word.
I would also like to give a special thank you to my wife and my youngest son for helping me in
the publication and completion of this book, all glory and honour be given to the Lord Our God.
The person of the Holy Spirit (Eloah) is set forth clearly in the Bible as the person of the Father (Elyon) and the son (Elohim). “EL, ELYON, ELOHIM, ELOAH, (gen c1:v1, deut c32:v15-17, gen c14:18-20, “the Holy Trinity”). "EL" is God the Almighty, the omnipotent, all powerful, the exalted one, "Elohim", is God as the creator of all things, its first occurrence is found in genesis c1:v1, as the creator of creation, God putting his omnipotence into fruition, "El" is "Elohim" in all his strength and power. "Eloah", is "Elohim", who is to be worshipped, Eloah, is essentially, "the living God", Eloah is associated with worship, (deut c32:v15-v17, 2chron c32:v15, eza c4:v24, job c9:v13, ps18:v31), "Elyon", the Most High God (God the Father), "El", the exalted one, Elyon is the bestower of all blessings, (gen c14:v18-v20, num c24:v16, isa c14:v14, ps18:v13). It is impossible for man to comprehend the fullness of "God", it is one thing to see but a glimpse of the Glory of God, yet another thing to see the "God of Glory", (exod c33:v18-v23), "Elohim", spoke and creation came into fruition, without the lifting of one finger, yet "Elohim" in his great love towards man, not only created man in his own image, but created man with his own hands, and breathed his own spirit into him, (gen c2:v7), it was the freewill of "Elohim" to create man, the outpouring of his love unto man by his spirit, (the breath of life), and in the likeness of "Elohim", man had instilled into his soul the love of God, for "Elohim" is love, his love was not only expressed in the spoken word, but became flesh (the living word), (john c1:v1), Christ Jesus is the only begotten son,"Elohim the Redeemer", the Holy trinity cannot be separated, ( john c10:v30,c14:v9-v11, c16:v13. “Elyon “the Father, the Most High God, (mark c5:v7, luke c8:v28). Elohim, the creator, Christ Jesus, (gen c1:v1, john c1:v1, col c1 :v15-v23, rom c11:v36,1cor c8:v6). Eloah the living God, the spirit of truth, the spirit of life, (gal c6:v8, 2cor c3:v6, rom c8:v11). The Holy spirit is revealed within scripture as a person and not a thing or an it, the person of the Holy spirit is always referred to by Christ Jesus as “He”, and Paul the apostle refers to the Holy spirit as “Himself”, (rom c8:v16), clearly stating that the Holy spirit is a person with his own identity and his own personality, the attributes of the Holy spirit as a person are as follows, He thinks, (I corin c2:v10-v11, acts, c15:v28), He feels for He can be grieved, (Eph c4:v30), He loves, irrespective of “rights” displaying emotions, (rom c15:v30), He displays free-will, (Icorin c12: 11), and the Holy spirit also speaks, for He spoke to Philip, (acts c8:v29), He spoke to Peter, (acts c10:v19-20), and he spoke to the believer's at Antioch, (acts c13:v2). We may ask what is the proof of the deity of the Holy spirit, firstly you must believe that the scriptures are God breathed, (2tim c3:v16), failing to accept this shall place you in a position were you can never come to the place of truth or of understanding, for the Holy spirit holds according to the scriptures dual authorship of 'THE WORD OF GOD', (2per c1:v20-21). The Deity of the Holy spirit is revealed within the scriptures, in Acts, Corinthians, Ephesians, He is called “GOD”, thus He is a divine being, and it is His attributes that reveal His divine nature and His person, He is "omniscient" , knows all things, (1corin c2:v10-v11) he is "omnipresent", everywhere, (ps 139:v7-v10), He is called the "eternal" Spirit , (heb c9:v14). The Holy Spirit is always associated with the Father and the Son on an equal basis, (matt c 28:v19), also note that the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit are one (john c14; corin c13:v14), the properties of God are the same properties of the Holy Spirit, Eternal,(heb c 9:v14), Life, (rom c 8:v2), Omnipresence, (ps 139:v7-v8), Holiness (matt c 28:v19), Omniscience (1corinth c 2:v10), Sovereignty , (john c3:v8; 1Corin c12:v11), Omnipotence, (gen c1:v1-v2; john c3:v5), it is the Eternal properties of the Holy spirit that reveal His relationship to the Most High God the Father, and to Christ Jesus the son, creator and Saviour. We are told within the scriptures; Hebrew chapter 9: verse14; “How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the “Eternal Spirit” offered Himself without blemish to God, therefore cleanse your conscience from dead works to serve the “Living God”? and the Living God is the “Spirit of truth”, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him, but you know Him because He abides with you, and will be in you, (john c14:v17), who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the “Spirit of Holiness”, Jesus Christ our Lord, (rom c1:v4), for the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death, (rom c8:v2).” It is through the work of the Holy spirit that His personality is revealed, in his relationship to the Father, for we are told that after being baptised, Jesus went up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened, and He saw the Spirit of God descending as a dove, and coming upon Him, (matt c3:v16), also we are told that Jesus himself went to Galilee in the power of the spirit teaching in the synagogues and as he entered the synagogue in His home town of Nazareth he took the book of the prophet Isaiah and declared that the “Spirit of the Lord” is upon “ME”,(luke c4:v18; isa c 61:v1), in the Holy spirits relationship to the son, the Lord Jesus there can be no doubt that those who belong to Christ have the Holy spirit dwelling within, for we are informed that those who are in the flesh cannot please God, however the christian believer's are not in the flesh but in the spirit, if indeed the spirit of God has quickened within you, for if anyone does not have the spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him,(rom c8:v9). The Holy spirit was also involved in the "creation" of the world, (gen c1) He was involved in the "working of miracles" (matt c12:v28), He was involved in the incarnation of Christ, (matt c1:v18. He was involved in the Resurrection of Christ, (rom c8:v11), and He is involved in man's redemption and regeneration, (heb c9:v14; john c3:v5; titus c3:v4-v6). The Bible teaches us that in the beginning, the Lord God created the Heavens and the Earth, yet the word translated “God” is plural revealing more than two, it is here in Genesis chapter one, that the Deity of the Father, Son and Holy spirit are revealed, God the father, God the son and God the Holy spirit, we speak of the Holy Spirit as the Third Person of the Trinity who proceeds from the Father and the Son (john c 15:v26, ps 104:v30, gal c 4:v6, phil c1:v19). The Holy spirit is called the "Eternal Spirit” (heb c9:v14) , the word “Eternal” is also applied to God the father, (rom c16:v26) God the Son (matt c3:v16) and means the Eternal Existing One; He that was, and is, and the coming one, Jehovah (Yehovah-Lord), reveals God’s character towards His people, (children), and His relationship between Himself and Israel, and the redeemed in Christ Jesus, thus revealing that the Holy spirit is not only a person but also equal within the Godhead, the Holy Trinity. Therefore the actions of the Lord God (Elyon)and of the Son Christ Jesus (Elohim), are attributed to the Holy Spirit, (Eloah), all were present at the baptism of Jesus, but in different forms, (matt c3:v16-v17), the father, son and Holy spirit are indeed distinguishable, the Holy Spirit has personality because He possesses the essential characteristics of personality, namely, intellect, feelings, and will, His works reveal His Divine nature. So what distinguishable role did the Holy spirit play within the plan of man's salvation and within the over all plan from creation to the formation of the new Heavens and Earth, we know that the Holy spirit was involved in the "Creation" of the world, (gen c1:v2), we also know that when man was created by the Lord God it was His spirit that He breathed into man making man a living soul, (job c33:v4), the breath of life was from the living God, and one of the titles of the Holy spirit is “Eloah” the Living God, the spirit of truth, the spirit of life, (gal c6:v8, 2cor c3:v6, rom c8:v11), Many of the Spirit's titles are found in the Old Testament (ps 51:v11; zec c 12:v10, and job c33:v4). References to the Holy Spirit are scattered throughout the Old Testament, it would indeed seem that the Holy spirit during the old testament period would come upon or clothe a person rather than to indwell a person, never the less His personality and deity are revealed for all to note, it was the Holy spirit who channelled the utterances of the prophetic office, He is the spirit of truth and the source behind the fulfilment of the will of the father (Elyon), (2pet c1:v20-v21; 1pet c1:v10-v11), we know that He existed before creation,(gen c1:v2), we know that He drew the animals into the ark, (gen c7:v9), we know that He was working in Joseph, (gen c41:v38), we see Him reveal His fruit, (exod c34:v6-v7), we see his power in action, (exod c31:v3-v11; c35:v31), we see the Holiness of the spirit, (lev c19:v2),and we also see a glimpse of pentecost in prophecy, for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy (num c11:v23-v29; rev c19:v10), the Holy spirit through his power came upon many in the old testament period, such as Othiniel, Gideon, Jephthah, Sampson, etc., (jud c6:v34; c11:v29; c13:v25; 1sam c10:v9-v10; c16:v13; 1chron c12:v18, num c27:v18; dan c4:v8; c6:v3) our faith in the promises of our salvation can only be strengthened by the appreciation of the Holy Spirit's work in His dealings with the old testament heroes, there is no other way to know the truth of God's Will except by what the Holy Spirit reveals to us through “HIS WORD”, (1corin c2:v10-v16). We observe through the old testament that the Holy spirit operated through the lives of many of the old testament patriarchs, and as such it was the same at the Birth of Christ, for we are told that various individuals were filled with the Holy spirit to make pronouncements concerning his birth, Elizabeth the mother of John the baptist, Zachariah the father of John the baptist, (luke c1:v41-v79), and Simeon, who saw the baby Jesus when presented at the Temple, (luke c2:v25-v35), but what about the conception of Jesus, this is were every thing changed, for Christ was conceived by the “Holy spirit” in the womb of Mary, (matt c1:v18-v20; luke c1:v30-v35), “ And the angel said to her, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called Holy, the Son of God.” The Birth of Christ was the beginning, the “Genesis”, the second Adam, the fulfilment of prophecy, for His name shall be called “Emmanuel, God with us”, Simeon was the first to confess with his mouth that he had seen his salvation, this indeed was an intentional act of the Holy spirit, here at eight days old at the temple Jesus was proclaimed the great “I AM” by the Holy spirit through His prophet Simeon. And at the baptism of Jesus by John, the Holy spirit was present, Descending in bodily form like a dove and alighting upon Him,(luke c3:v21-v22; matt c3:v16), thus He was “Filled with the Holy spirit”, and was “ led there by the Holy spirit into the wilderness”, (luke c4:v1), and after Christ's temptations in the wilderness He returned from His temptations in the “Power of the Spirit" to teach in the synagogues ,(luke c4:v14-v15), were He applied Isaiah's prophecy to Himself, which said "The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me”, (luke c4:v16-v2, Jesus even "rejoiced in the Spirit" (luke c10:v21), when Jesus cast out demons it was by the Holy spirit, (matt c12:v28), the Holy spirit was involved in the "working of miracles" (matt c12:v28), all through Christ 's ministry the Holy spirit was with Him, and it was through the power of the Holy spirit that the hinge on which our salvation depends was achieved, and that was the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. We have revealed the activities of the Holy spirit in creation and in the life of the Lord Jesus but what about the believer in the Lord Jesus what role does the holy spirit play within the recipients life, the scriptures teach us that He was involved in the "redemption" of man, (heb c9:v14)and that He is involved in the "regeneration" of man, (john c3:v5; titus c3:v15), but the purpose of the Holy spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, and for this reason the Holy spirit came to rekindle man's spirit within, remember that the spirit within man belongs to God and at death returns back to it rightful owner (eccl c12:v7), so After the Lord Jesus had ascended to Heaven, the Holy Spirit came in fullness and power to rekindle the life giving spirit already within man, when the Lord Jesus Breathed upon the disciples, he said “receive” the Holy spirit, (john c20:v22), the word “receive” means, “to get hold of”, so what Jesus was saying to the disciples, was to get hold of the truth, and the word “breathed” means, “to quicken, spring up, to germinate, to make alive”, the Lord Jesus was not giving them the Holy spirit, for the Holy spirit was already within them, (gen c2:v7) for it was the Holy spirit that “Elohim” God the Creator! Breathed into man and made him a living soul, and our creator was, the Lord Jesus Christ, for all things were created by Him, for Him and through Him, (col c1:v16; rom c13:v26, 1cor c8:v6), note that the words “indwell” or “indwelling” implying that the Holy spirit enters into the new believer at conversion is not mentioned or recorded within the scriptures, only the word “dwell” is recorded, (rom c8:v9-v11; 2corin c6:v16; eph c3:v17; col c3:v16; 1john c4:v13). The breath that Christ gave to make man a living soul, was “Eloah the living god”, (the Holy spirit, the third person of the Holy trinity), for the Holy spirit is called the spirit of truth, who shall lead you into all truth, and “Eloah” is always within scripture connected with true worship, (duet c32:v15-v17, 2chron c32:v15, eza c4:v24, job c9:v13, ps 18:v31, the spirit of truth, and the spirit of life, ( rom c8:v11, 2cor c3:v6, gal c6:v8), it was the “indwelling” of the Holy spirit at creation which gave man life and made him a living soul. After the fall of man and his loss of fellowship with the Lord God, the Holy spirit remained within man (the subconscious) becoming the light to his “conscience” that small inner voice that convicts us when we are about to do something wrong. So when the Lord Jesus Breathed upon the disciples He rekindled the Holy spirit within, (2cor c4:v2, john c8:v9), of all the miracles that Jesus performed, the very first, was the turning of water into wine, (john c 2), note there were six water jars, six is the number of man, they filled the jars to the brim with water, and Christ turned it into wine, the picture here is of man's spiritual hopelessness, he was spiritually dead before the Lord God, Christ showed here two ways that are open to man, 1. He could heal man’s spiritual blindness and reconcile him to His creator, 2. or man could reject his creator and remain under judgement, (ps c60:v3, jer c25:v15, num c28:v7, gen c 27:v28-v37), Christ indeed was showing His Glory here, for it was the first miracle to occur in Israel for four-hundred and fifty years. Christ Jesus wanted them to recognize Him as their Messiah, but the darkness that surrounded their souls blinded their eyes to the truth, it was as if their conscience were seared and the light of the Holy spirit could not shine through, (1 tim c4:v2), it is the Holy spirit who is that little voice you hear telling you when you are about to do something wrong, and it is this spirit of the living God that returns back to the Lord God, when you have breathed your last, (eccl c12:v7). It is the spirit of God that reveals the life of a person, that is why the righteous shine like the stars of the expanse, (dan c12:v3), the light of God cannot be engulfed by darkness, but where there is no light darkness reigns, the human soul (self) consists of man’s will, mind and emotions, this is the heart of man, while his flesh consist of the five senses, sight, hearing, smell, taste and feelings, man's conscience (the conscious knowledge of good and evil) occurred in man after his fall from grace, for he could not have had any knowledge of Evil before the fall, since all was good in creation, (gen c1:v31), it is the work of the Holy spirit upon the conscious mind that brings about a change of heart, for it is from the heart (soul) of man that all unrighteousness originates, (matt c15:v19, luke c6:v45, gen c6:v5, ps 14:v1-v3, rom c1:v28-v32), and it was at the fall of man, that satan instilled into man's heart, self will, (ego), and ego is feed by the mind, (intellect) and influenced by emotions, (our feelings) thus we have a war between the Holy spirit and the flesh raging within our soul for control, (gal c5:v17, 1 pet c2:v11). The five senses are the outer man, the flesh which shall perish, (die and return to dust). The soul, (will, mind and emotions) is the inner man, which shall live forever, as to where it dwells is up to the individual, there are only two places to which the soul of man can go, heaven or the lake of fire, that is why it is very important to let the Holy spirit have dominion over your life, for to let self-will (ego) rule, places you within the will of the satan (2tim c2:v26) and within his dominion, (kingdom), it is from satan that egoism first originated, (isa c 14:v13-v14, ezek c 28:v1-v17), you don’t have to be possessed by the devil in order to be like him, (john c8:v44), just to be a liar shall suffice. They say talk is cheap, it costs you nothing to speak, or does it,read matt c12:v36-v37), it is for this reason that one must die to self, and be led by the Holy spirit, it is the only way in which the child of God can be sure that they have sanctification, walking in the spirit, and travelling on the Highway of Holiness, immersed in the perfect will of the Lord God. When man was created, he was in the perfect will of God, but when he disobeyed the will of God by eating of the tree of knowledge, he became subject to the will of satan, (2 tim c2:v26), if one reads the parable of the sower, it shall become clear that as soon as one receives the word of God, satan is the first to attack the recipient of God's Grace in his bid to take away the word of God sown within their heart, (mark c4:v15, luke c8:v12), satan will always use our weakness against us when we try to follow Christ Jesus and His teachings, after all it was satan who instilled within our hearts ego, through our first parents, (gen c3:v6), for when the woman (Eve) saw that the tree was good for food, (lust of the flesh,) and pleasant to the eyes, (lust of the eyes), and would make one wise, (boastful, egoism), she placed her will above the will of the Lord God.( 1 john c2:v16). This is why the Holy Spirit was poured out in power at pentecost to rekindle the God given spirit that was already within them, to empower them to become overcomers through the power of God, hence a relationship could now be formed between the believer and the Lord God. They now had power over sin and satan, through the Holy spirit because He possesses the essential characteristics of God the Father and God the Son, namely, intellect, emotion, and will, it is the Holy spirit that grants the child of God, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in their hearts through faith, and that they, being rooted and grounded in love, (eph c3:v16-v17), this is what Christ said about the coming of the Holy spirit “for when the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth, for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak, and He will disclose to you what is to come”, (john c16:v13-v14),"The Helper, (the Holy Spirit), whom the Father will send in My name (Christ Jesus), will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you." (john c14:v26) hence the chief role of the Holy Spirit is that He bears "witness" of Jesus Christ (john c15:v26, c16:v14), He reveals to the conscious mind of man the truth of Jesus Christ, He also is the Christian's teacher (1corin c2:v12-v16), for He reveals God's will and God's truth to the believer. His intellect is revealed through scripture because as God Himself His power of thinking and reasoning are revealed in the fact that only God can know the depths of God, for God is spirit,(1corin c2:v10:v11), He shall glorify Me; for He shall take of Mine, and shall disclose it to you, (john c16:v14). Thus the Holy spirit possesses personal characteristics , He has a mind, (rom c8:v27), He has knowledge, (1corin c2:v11), He has affection, (rom c15:v30), He has a free will, (1corin c12:v11), He teaches ,for Jesus told the disciples that the Holy spirit would teach them “all things” and guide them “into all truth,(john c14:v25-v26; c16:v12-v13), the Holy spirit bears witness to Christ Jesus, (john c15:v26), He guides, for He guided Philip to the Ethiopian(acts c8:v27), He speaks,(rev c2:v7), He hears, (rom c8:v26), He intercedes, (rom c8:v26), He leads, (rom c8:v4), He convicts, (john c16:v8-v11), He comforts, (john c14:v16),. He inspired the Scriptures, (2pet c1:v21), He testifies,(john c15:v26), He Anoints, (acts c13:v2;c20:v28), He creates, (job c33:v4) and He equips (the filling of the Holy spirit is one of relationship)(acts c2:v4). As the gift promised by Christ, (acts c2:v38), the Holy Spirit should never be confused with His gifts,(1 corin c12:v4-v11), for all the children of God have the "gift of the Spirit," but no one has all the gifts of the Spirit," remember the Holy spirit gives life, (1cor c6:v19-v20), all children of God are sealed by the Holy spirit; for this is the office of the Holy spirit,The sealing work of the Holy Spirit is the basis for our eternal security, (eph c1:v3), In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance, with a view to the redemption of God's own possession, to the praise of His glory,(eph c1:v13-v14), Seal indicates ownership; God owns the believer, having purchased him through the blood of the lamb, (eph c1v:7; 1corin c6v:20; rev c7:v14), we hear the truth as directed by the Holy spirit, we believe and receive the gospel into our hearts, thus we are sealed by the Holy spirit, and are sanctified, “and do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption, (eph c4:v30)”, this reveals that the Holy spirit displays “feelings”, He can be grieved through our wilful neglect, He can be resisted, (acts c7:v51), the Holy spirit can be insulted, by trampling over the blood of Christ Jesus (heb c10:v29), He can be lied to, (acts c5:v3), and He can be blasphemed against, (matt c12:v31-v32), He can even be held in contempt, (acts c5:v9), many even resist the Holy spirit, (acts c7:v51). The Holy spirit can only operate within the will of God, hence the child of God is to be led by the spirit in order that they walk in the Spirit (gal c5:v25), for it is only through walking in the spirit that a child of God can be filled with the Spirit, to be filled with the Spirit means to be filled with God ,(eph c5:v18), only then is it possible for the Holy Spirit to empower the child of God unto spiritual growth, (rom c12; 1corin c12; eph c4), The Holy Spirit works in us to make clear to us what purpose God has for our lives. Christ called the Holy spirit our “comforter” and while the work of the Holy spirit assures us of our salvation, (phil c1:v6), and that our salvation is sealed up in the Lord God by His promise, (eph c1:v13-v14), thus it is only through the Holy spirit that man can find peace with God, it is only through the rekindling of the Holy spirit within the child of God that guides us into a sure foundation of the truth, for it is the Holy spirit that gives gifts (1corin c12), leads us to obedience (2corin c3:v5), and encourages us, (acts c9:v31); edifies us, (rom c8:v27); energizes us and makes us effective, (acts c1:v8); He counsels (john c14:v26); He gives life (john c7:v38; He is gracious (giving beyond measure, merciful (overflowing with active compassion through love), (ps 145:v9; 1 john c4:v8); immutable (unchanging); (mal c3:v6) eternal (the Alpha and Omega; (ps 90:v2); He is Holy (sinless, and opposed to sin), (lev c19:v2), He is God (Eloah! The Living God) sent by the Father (Elyon! the Most High God) and the Lord Jesus Christ (Elohim! The Creator and Saviour God), we receive all the gifts obtainable through the God Head that enable us to receive salvation, “Faith and Grace”, that we may be conformed by the Holy spirit into the image of Christ Jesus, (john c3:v6-v7; eph c2:v8, rom c12:v1-v2; 2cor c3:v18; gal c5:v22-v25, eph c3:v16-v21, the essential work of the Holy spirit is a necessity because of man's corrupt heart, for by nature we are dead to God, but alive to sin, (eph c2:v1-v8), it is through grace, the divine favour and mercy of a loving God that we are given the privilege of our spiritual nature being rekindled in our heart, as the psalmist said; create in me a clean heart O Lord! and renew a right spirit within. The scriptures clearly teach that man is spiritually blind, their eyes are closed, they by their own nature, hate the things of God, (1corin c1:v18; c2:v11-v14;eph c4:v17-v18) note that the scriptures said they are spiritually blind but not necessarily dead to spiritual things,(rom c1:v19-v28), every nation in the world admits to the existence of a 'god' or super natural force, why even satan is called the god of this world (2corin c4:v4). So here lies the problem, man by his own fallen nature has been deceived into believing in the lie of satan,.That lie is simple, that man can achieve all he desires, in a nut shell, man is God (egoism), but the problem for man comes from the fact that the law of God is written upon his hearts, (rom c2:v14-v16; heb c 8:v10), and for this reason and purpose the Holy spirit who is called the spirit of truth and who can only work within the truth, bearing witness to the truth, has a two fold function, one to reveal the truth of the gospel within all men, and the second function is to seal those who respond to biblical truth, those who accept God's truth unto salvation and receive a fuller understanding of spiritual truth, thus the way is open for a spiritual relationship with God the Father, through the Son by the Holy spirit(2corin c5:v17-v18, col c1:v19-v23). It is only through the Holy spirit in our life that we are enabled to overcome carnal lusts, for it is the Holy spirit that strengthens us in the inner man, (rom c8:v12-v13; eph c3:v16-v20; phil c2:v12-v13; c4:v13), but the Word of God which is "the word of life" (phil. 2:16), only becomes such in the experience of the individual soul by the immediate operation of the Holy Spirit, when Paul the Apostle wrote to the Thessalonian saints, he said "For our Gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit," (1 thess. 1:5), this is not to deny the power of the Word itself, but it is to insist that the direct agency of the Holy Spirit on the heart is absolutely necessary in order for the receiving of the Word, for the Word is a lamp unto our path, (ps 119:v135) but there must be an opening of the heart for our understanding by the Holy Spirit before we can see its light, it is the Holy spirit that empowers the Gospel message, and the Holy spirit shall always comfort the child of God by strengthening his graces and giving him victory over sin, the Holy spirit will never let the work of salvation be overcome or destroyed by satan (phil c1:v6; rom c 6:v14). We may be born in sin, but we do not have to live in sin, for by the power of the Holy spirit which dwells within the very heart of the child of God, is Liberty, the power over sin within your life, such is His grace towards us, that he opened a way through Christ Jesus for which we can cry Abba Father! for it is through the Blood of Christ Jesus that we are cleansed from all sin, (john c1:v7; acts c20:v28), purchased, (rom c5:v9), justified, (eph c1:v7), redeemed, (13:v12), sanctified, (1 cor c1:v2), He is our righteousness, (1 cor c 1:v30), but as His children we are obligated to live Holy lives, for to do otherwise, shall result in the quenching of the Holy spirit, (1 thess c5:v19), and to have the living spirit of God no longer striving with us in our struggle to become overcomers, (gen c6:v3, rev c2;c3). God's spirit (God's breath) is man's rational soul and is the seat of his spiritual affections towards God, (spirituality), it is this spirit within man that gives him the ability to choose over the conscious mind (flesh, the carnal mind, man's corrupt fallen nature) for the conscious mind influences his behaviour his thoughts and his motives, it is man's conscious mind which is termed within the scriptures as the “old man”, the fleshly man, the carnal man, thus a man's conscious mind is not his best companion, since it is egocentric, hence satan through the spirit of iniquity can influence man's physical and spiritual life to the point of destruction. It is the conscious mind which is the “carnal mind”, the carnal man has been deceived into believing that the conscious mind of man (the corrupted heart and soul which has become irrational through man's fall from grace) makes better decisions than the subconscious mind (our conscience, our sense of right or wrong), yet the subconscious mind of man is the rational part of man mind, that which brings man unto conviction of sin and the need for repentance, the subconscious mind of man is the residence of the 'Holy spirit', the life giving spirit of God, the subconscious mind is the link between the soul and the spirit, hence we are told within the scriptures to keep our hearts (minds) with all diligence! for from it flows the spring of life, (prov 4:23) see (john c14:v16-v17) where Christ said the Holy spirit already abides within you. The greatest miracle that the Holy spirit shall ever make in a recipients life is the transformation of a sinner who is hell bound into a sinner who is heaven bound, this is what is meant by the sanctification of a soul,(2thess c2:v13), the Holy spirit's work of regeneration and man's choice to accept the truth are equally necessary in salvation. |
